A little bit about me….. When you plan to start over in a new country, you realize that you have to be born again. There is no easy rebirth, nor death without pain, but that is where I reinvented myself. I remember the day I left my island of Cuba like it was yesterday. It was May 2016, at 49 years old, with my heart about to burst. I was leaving behind a part of my soul: my oldest son, my family, my home, my customs. I had my husband and youngest son by my side along with a suitcase full of hopes and dreams to fulfill.
Upon arriving in Miami, I felt like I had instantly started over. The pain of separation was intense, but the will to build a better future for my family pushed me forward. I started from the bottom, working exhausting days as a housekeeper, walking 3 miles a day round trip to work. I remember welcoming the sun and the moon daily with my husband, who accompanied me.
It was not easy, but with every achievement, I thanked God for helping me get up each day with strength (above sadness and nostalgia), focused on my goal like an eagle, so as not to fail. I was blessed that imperceptible doors opened along the way. Soon, we were able to rent a small apartment. Together, we overcame many obstacles. Finally, we were able to save up for our first car, which was not modern at all but saved us a lot of time. And most importantly, I was able to begin my studies at age 50.
Life presented us with an even more difficult test when my husband passed away during the pandemic. I lost my partner, my support, my everything. It was devastating.
THE VISIONARY BEHIND OUR SUCCESS
From this blow, I once again, found the strength to move forward. I was like a phoenix reborn from its ashes. I didn’t let sadness, pessimism or fatigue take over. I started working as a masseuse in the Brickell area and managed to bring my oldest son and my brother from Cuba.
And so Miami Massage and Head Spa, my own project, was born. It was a birth without an epidural but I believe in the triumph of virtue. I continue to move forward with strength and dreams to create a better life for myself and those who are by my side. I have built a new life, I have helped others through my passion for massage and I have proven that it is never too late to start again. We are all capable of being reborn.Over time, everyone I knew who was looking for a new future, had a helping hand, because I know what it's worth to have support when you start anew.
Today, eight years after arriving in Miami, I feel immense gratitude. With each massage, I transmit not only my knowledge, but also my heart. I learned that it is human to give pleasure and where professionalism, love and empathy converge, abundance of life is guaranteed.
I offer everyone a restart to their day, their life - one that is full of peace, relaxation and harmony - and to find the perfect balance between body, mind and spirit.
